Toru Matsugasumi is a leading urologic surgeon and researcher whose work has significantly advanced the precision of prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. His primary research areas include image-guided surgery, focal therapy, and the integration of advanced imaging with robotic-assisted procedures. Matsugasumi’s most impactful contribution is his landmark 2014 study on Magnetic Resonance Imaging–Transrectal Ultrasound (MRI-TRUS) image-fusion biopsies.
