About
Sung Min Lee is a pioneering colorectal surgeon whose research has significantly advanced the field of robotic surgery for rectal cancer. His work focuses on two critical areas: comparing long-term oncologic outcomes between robotic and laparoscopic approaches, and refining the technically demanding procedure of lateral pelvic node dissection (LPND). Lee's landmark 2021 study, cited 31 times, provided compelling evidence that robotic surgery achieves similar long-term survival outcomes to laparoscopic surgery for mid/low rectal cancer, while offering particular benefits for patients with ypT3/4 tumors after preoperative chemoradiation.
