Dr. Soichi Murakami is a pioneering robotic surgeon whose work is reshaping the landscape of minimally invasive gastrointestinal oncology. His research centers on the development and validation of advanced robotic techniques for gastric and esophageal cancer, with a particular focus on enhancing surgical precision and patient safety. Dr. Murakami’s most significant contribution is the introduction of the “preemptive retropancreatic approach” for suprapancreatic lymph node dissection during robotic distal gastrectomy—a novel method designed to minimize pancreatic compression and reduce the risk of postoperative pancreatic fistula.
