Dr. Shih‐Hwa Chiou is a leading figure in the advancement of minimally invasive surgical techniques for gastric cancer, with a particular focus on robotic and laparoscopic gastrectomy. His research has been instrumental in demonstrating the safety, feasibility, and oncologic efficacy of robotic approaches compared to traditional open and laparoscopic methods. In his seminal 2012 paper, which has garnered 133 citations, Dr. Chiou provided one of the earliest comprehensive comparisons of robotic gastrectomy against open and laparoscopic procedures, establishing a foundation for the field.
