Dr. Shaihong Zhu is a pioneering surgeon and researcher in the field of minimally invasive surgical robotics, with a primary focus on colorectal cancer surgery. His most significant contribution is the clinical development and validation of the domestically produced Chinese “Micro Hand S” surgical robot system. As a key figure in its first human use in 2015 (69 citations), Dr. Zhu has systematically demonstrated the system’s safety and efficacy, comparing it head-to-head with the global gold standard, the da Vinci system, for procedures like total mesorectal excision (TME) and complete mesocolic excision (CME).
