About
Dr. Sara Mastrovito is a pioneering gynecologic surgeon at the forefront of robotic-assisted surgery, with a primary focus on minimally invasive treatments for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and urogynaecological disorders. Her most impactful contributions center on validating the novel Hugo™ RAS system (Medtronic) for complex gynecologic procedures. In landmark studies, she performed the first nerve-sparing sacral colpopexy using this platform and demonstrated its feasibility, safety, and efficacy in the largest European series to date (60 cases), with perioperative outcomes comparable to established robotic systems. Dr. Mastrovito also introduced combined robotic sacrocolpopexy plus ventral rectopexy for multicompartment prolapse, expanding surgical options for patients with complex pelvic floor dysfunction.
