About
R. Vozmediano Chicharro is a leading researcher in urological oncology, with a primary focus on improving functional outcomes following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). His work centers on the critical challenge of postoperative urinary incontinence (UI), a major complication that significantly impacts patient quality of life. Vozmediano Chicharro’s major contributions include the development of predictive models to identify patients at risk for UI. His seminal 2013 study, cited 24 times, prospectively analyzed preoperative urodynamic parameters to create a nomogram for predicting incontinence one year after RARP. This was complemented by a 2012 comprehensive model, cited 18 times, which integrated intraoperative and postoperative risk factors for a multifactorial prediction. More recently, he pioneered an innovative approach using video-editing software to objectively assess early continence by analyzing intraoperative variables, a technique that offers real-time, visual feedback for surgeons. Through these efforts, Vozmediano Chicharro has advanced personalized surgical planning and patient counseling, directly contributing to enhanced recovery and reduced morbidity in prostate cancer care.
