About

Milan Dejmek is a chemical biologist whose research centers on lipid signaling and the development of small-molecule probes to dissect complex cellular pathways. His major contributions lie in the discovery and characterization of selective inhibitors for phosphatidylinositol 4-kinases (PI4Ks), enzymes that generate the key signaling lipid PI4P at membrane contact sites. In his landmark 2019 study, Dejmek led a large-scale high-throughput screen that identified the first chemical inhibitors of phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase type II alpha, a challenging target with no previously known selective tool compounds.
