About

Mette Madsen is a pioneering surgeon and researcher at the forefront of robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery, with a focused expertise in the surgical management of endometriosis. Her most notable contribution is the first clinical evaluation of the Medtronic Hugo™ Robot-Assisted Surgery (RAS) system for endometriosis, a landmark descriptive study published in 2023. In this work, Madsen demonstrated the safety and feasibility of the novel platform, achieving successful case completion without major surgical complications (Clavien-Dindo grade ≤2). This foundational research, which has already garnered 11 citations, provides critical early evidence for expanding robotic surgical options in complex gynecologic procedures. By rigorously assessing a next-generation robotic system, Madsen is helping to shape the future of minimally invasive surgery, offering patients and surgeons a new, potentially more accessible tool for treating deeply infiltrating endometriosis. Her work bridges the gap between technological innovation and clinical application, positioning her as a key voice in the evolution of robotic surgery for benign gynecologic conditions.
