About

Dr. Mengyang Li is a pioneering surgeon-scientist at the forefront of robotic hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, whose work is reshaping the standard of care for complex pancreatic procedures. His landmark 2024 multicentre, open-label randomised controlled trial (100 citations) definitively demonstrated that robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy significantly reduces postoperative hospital stays and complications compared to open surgery for pancreatic head tumours, providing Level 1 evidence for a paradigm shift. As lead author of the 2023 International Consensus Guidelines on Robotic Pancreatic Surgery (46 citations), Dr. Li has codified best practices for this rapidly evolving field. He has also pushed technical boundaries by evaluating the da Vinci Single-Port system for pancreatic surgery (22 citations) and conducting the first meta-analysis on robotic liver surgery (17 citations). Beyond clinical trials, Dr. Li’s innovative work in self-supervised learning for surgical image segmentation (SurgNet, 10 citations) bridges artificial intelligence and operative precision. His investigations into learning curves, elderly patient outcomes, and novel surgical strategies have collectively garnered over 225 citations, establishing him as a leading voice in the evidence-based advancement of robotic HPB surgery.
