About
Dr. Masanori Kotake is a leading colorectal surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for locally advanced rectal cancer, particularly through laparoscopic and robotic-assisted approaches. He has made pivotal contributions to establishing quality standards in rectal cancer surgery, most notably as the principal investigator of the PRODUCT trial, a landmark Japanese multicenter prospective study that validated laparoscopic surgery for locally advanced rectal cancer using circumferential resection margin (CRM) and total mesorectal excision (TME) quality as universal indices.
