About
Martin Heubner is a pioneering gynecologic surgeon whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of compartment-based radical surgery for uterine cancers. His research focuses on translating the embryologically defined surgical principles of total mesometrial resection (TMMR) and peritoneal mesometrial resection (PMMR)—originally developed by Michael Höckel—into the modern robotic surgery arena. Heubner’s major contributions include defining standardized compartment-based techniques for both cervical and endometrial cancer, demonstrating that robotic platforms can achieve the same ontogenetic precision as open surgery. His landmark 2016 study on intraoperative navigation using indocyanine-green (ICG) to visualize embryologically derived lymphatic networks (38 citations) represents a breakthrough in real-time surgical guidance.
