About
Dr. Marie Boichu is a leading volcanologist whose research bridges the critical gap between volcanic emissions, atmospheric chemistry, and public health. Her primary focus lies in understanding the transport, chemical transformation, and environmental impact of volcanic plumes, particularly the conversion of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) into sulfate aerosols. Her landmark study on the 2014–2015 Holuhraun flood lava eruption in Iceland (29 citations) provided the first detailed chemical fingerprint of volcanic sulfate aerosols in a large-scale tropospheric pollution event.
