Dr. Maria Grazia Faticato is a pioneering pediatric surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques for complex congenital colorectal conditions, particularly Hirschsprung disease (HSCR). Her major contributions center on redefining surgical approaches for patients with postoperative obstructive symptoms and long-segment disease. In her highly cited 2020 work, "Minimally Invasive Redo Pull-Throughs in Hirschsprung Disease" (17 citations), she demonstrated that minimally invasive redo pull-throughs (MIRPT) offer a safe, effective alternative to conventional laparotomy, challenging traditional surgical dogma and reducing patient morbidity.
