Dr. Marcello Spampinato is a pioneering Italian hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeon whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of minimally invasive liver surgery. His research centers on the safety, feasibility, and oncological efficacy of laparoscopic and robotic approaches for complex hepatic and pancreatic procedures. Dr. Spampinato’s major contributions include demonstrating the safety of simultaneous minimally invasive resection for colorectal cancer with synchronous liver metastases, and establishing the viability of robotic re-resection for incidental gallbladder carcinoma.
