About

Marc Remacle is a pioneering otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon whose career has been defined by advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for the treatment of cancers of the larynx, oropharynx, and surrounding structures. He is widely recognized as one of Europe's foremost experts in transoral robotic surgery (TORS), having contributed foundational research that shaped how surgeons worldwide approach head and neck oncology and obstructive sleep apnea. Remacle's most cited work, a 2015 multi-institutional study on oncologic outcomes following TORS (304 citations), provided critical evidence validating robotic surgery's efficacy across large patient populations. His 2015 study on the Medrobotics Flex™ System marked a historic milestone as the first human surgical application of that platform (121 citations), while his European multicenter evaluation of the Flex System further established international benchmarks for robotic surgical practice. His research on TORS for supraglottic laryngectomy and total laryngectomy demonstrated that robotic techniques could extend into increasingly complex anatomical territories with strong functional and survival outcomes. Across his most-cited publications alone, Remacle has accumulated nearly 1,000 citations, reflecting enduring influence on surgical oncology training, clinical decision-making, and the global adoption of robotic platforms in minimally invasive head and neck surgery.
