About
Luca Mosillo is a pioneering robotic surgeon whose work is reshaping minimally invasive urological and pelvic surgery. His primary research focuses on the clinical implementation and validation of the Versius® Surgical System (CMR Surgical), a next-generation robotic platform distinguished by its open console and independent bedside units. Mosillo’s major contributions include demonstrating the safety, feasibility, and reproducibility of this novel system across complex procedures. His landmark 2023 case series on robot-assisted radical prostatectomies (23 citations) provided the first clinical evidence for Versius in oncologic urology, showing comparable perioperative outcomes to established robotic systems. He further expanded the system’s utility through a 2024 multicentric analysis (15 citations) that standardized surgical setups for pelvic surgery across urology, gynecology, and general surgery. Most recently, his 2024 work on partial nephrectomies (7 citations) proved Versius’s effectiveness in nephron-sparing surgery, a technically demanding procedure. By systematically documenting early outcomes and operative techniques, Mosillo has become a key voice in the transition toward more flexible, cost-effective robotic platforms, directly influencing how next-generation surgical robots are adopted in clinical practice.
