About
Kwangha Baek is a leading figure in the advancement of transoral robotic surgery (TORS), with a focused expertise in the evolution and clinical application of the da Vinci surgical system. His major contribution lies in critically evaluating and comparing successive generations of robotic platforms, most notably through his landmark 2016 study on the da Vinci Xi system. This work, which has garnered 26 citations, provided the first comprehensive analysis of the Xi system’s settings, advantages, and limitations relative to its predecessor, the popular Si model. By offering essential workflow guidance and demonstrating surgical feasibility, Baek’s research has directly shaped how surgeons adopt and optimize new robotic technologies for head and neck procedures. His comparative analyses have been instrumental in improving surgical precision and patient outcomes in TORS. Through this pivotal study and related work, Baek has established himself as a key voice in robotic surgical innovation, helping to bridge the gap between technological advancement and practical, safe clinical implementation.
