Kiarash Taghavi is an emerging leader in pediatric minimally invasive and robotic surgery, with research focused on expanding the safe application of robot-assisted techniques in children. His work addresses some of the most technically demanding procedures in pediatric urology and oncology, including pyeloplasty, adrenalectomy, and tumor resection. Taghavi's landmark 2023 study on day surgery following retroperitoneal robot-assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty — already accumulating 16 citations — demonstrated that carefully selected pediatric patients can be safely discharged the same day, reducing hospitalization burden without compromising outcomes.
