Dr. Jung Yoon Kang is a distinguished urologic surgeon whose research centers on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for prostate and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) treatment. His landmark 2021 study, cited 27 times, provides a critical head-to-head comparison of open simple prostatectomy (OSP) versus robotic simple prostatectomy (RSP) for large BPH, demonstrating that robotic approaches can match the efficacy of traditional open surgery while offering improved safety profiles. This work has helped establish robotic simple prostatectomy as a viable, less invasive alternative for patients with significantly enlarged prostates.
