Jonathan J. Beitler is a leading clinician-researcher in head and neck oncology, with a focused expertise in human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) and the refinement of transoral robotic surgery (TORS). His work bridges critical gaps between radiographic assessment and surgical outcomes. In a landmark 2018 study (37 citations), Beitler demonstrated that preoperative CT imaging cannot reliably predict macroscopic extranodal extension in HPV+ OPSCC, fundamentally challenging staging paradigms and treatment decision-making.
