About
Dr. Jayraj Govindraj is a pioneering figure in the field of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), with a focused expertise in the application of robotic radiosurgery for hepatic malignancies. His seminal work, "Robotic radiosurgery treatment in liver tumors: Early experience from an Indian center," represents a landmark contribution to oncologic care in the region. In this study, Govindraj meticulously documented the CyberKnife treatment of 50 liver lesions across 31 patients, predominantly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver metastases, with a mean patient age of 54.5 years. By detailing clinical outcomes, dosimetric parameters, and early toxicity profiles, he established a critical evidence base for the safe and effective use of frameless robotic radiosurgery in an Indian cohort. This work, cited 6 times, has directly influenced institutional protocols and expanded access to non-invasive liver-directed therapy. Govindraj’s research not only demonstrates technical feasibility but also underscores the importance of tailored SBRT in resource-constrained settings. His contributions continue to shape the practice of radiation oncology, offering hope for patients with complex liver tumors who might otherwise be deemed inoperable.
