Iris Gourdji is a leading gynecologic oncologist whose research has fundamentally shaped the modern surgical management of endometrial cancer. Her work centers on the intersection of minimally invasive robotic surgery, patient outcomes, and health-related quality of life. Gourdji’s landmark prospective cohort study of the first 100 robotic surgeries for endometrial cancer (53 citations) provided critical early evidence that robotic techniques are safe and effective, particularly for elderly patients, while also demonstrating superior postoperative quality of life. She further advanced the field by investigating the relationship between body mass index and robotic surgery outcomes (50 citations), establishing that robotic approaches offer distinct advantages for obese patients who face higher surgical risks.
