Giulio Vannelli is a leading researcher at the intersection of international trade, labor economics, and technological change. His work focuses on how automation and global value chain (GVC) integration reshape labor markets and the functional organization of firms. In his highly cited 2023 study, Vannelli examines how technology adoption and shifts in GVC participation jointly affect labor shares and business function specialization across 14 manufacturing industries in 14 European countries from 1999 to 2011.
