About
Dr. Emilia Rippa is a leading geneticist whose research has significantly advanced the molecular understanding of cystic fibrosis (CF), particularly in Southern Italy. Her seminal work, "Molecular epidemiology of cystic fibrosis mutations and haplotypes in southern Italy evaluated with an improved semiautomated robotic procedure" (1996, 25 citations), established her as a pioneer in high-throughput genetic screening. In this study, Dr. Rippa developed a novel semiautomated allele-specific oligonucleotide (ASO) dot blot procedure using multiplex PCR to screen for 22 CF mutations, including delta F508, N1303K, and G542X, in 69 patients.
