About
Duoduo Liu is a pioneering reproductive surgeon whose work has reshaped the landscape of uterine transplantation in China. Her primary research focuses on fertility preservation, uterine transplantation, and complex reproductive surgery, with a particular emphasis on restoring fertility in women with absolute uterine factor infertility. Liu’s most significant contribution came in 2020, when she co-authored the landmark report of the first live birth after uterus transplantation in the People’s Republic of China, a milestone that has since garnered 38 citations and demonstrated the feasibility of this procedure in an Asian population. This achievement not only validated the surgical and immunological protocols for uterine transplantation but also offered new hope to thousands of Chinese women with uterine factor infertility. Beyond this breakthrough, Liu has been instrumental in refining surgical techniques and immunosuppression regimens to improve graft survival and obstetric outcomes. Her work has positioned China as a key player in the global uterine transplantation community, and she continues to advance the field through clinical research and international collaborations. For students and researchers, Liu’s career exemplifies how translational research can directly transform patient care and expand the boundaries of reproductive medicine.
