About
Christina Klose is a leading clinical trialist whose work is reshaping the landscape of minimally invasive surgical oncology. Her research centers on the rigorous evaluation of robotic and minimally invasive techniques for complex gastrointestinal and oncologic surgeries, with a primary focus on improving patient outcomes and reducing postoperative morbidity. Klose’s most significant contribution is her leadership in the EUROPA trial (118 citations), a landmark randomized controlled stage 2b study comparing robotic versus open partial pancreatoduodenectomy—one of the most challenging abdominal procedures. This work directly challenges the gold standard of open surgery by providing high-level evidence on the safety and efficacy of the robotic approach. She has also shaped the protocols for the DISPACT-2 and MICkey trials, which systematically compare minimally invasive versus open distal pancreatectomy and esophagectomy, respectively.
