About
Cato Brede is a pioneering analytical chemist whose research centers on developing cutting-edge mass spectrometry methods to unravel the complex interplay between the human metabolome, the gut microbiome, and endocrine function. His major contributions lie in creating highly sensitive, multiplexed assays for challenging biofluids. He is best known for his seminal 2017 work on a novel LC-MS/MS method using 2-hydrazinopyridine derivatization to detect steroid hormones in saliva, a technique that dramatically improved sensitivity for ketosteroids and has garnered 28 citations, establishing a new standard in endocrinological research.
