Dr. Carla Cicero is a pioneering gynecologic oncologist whose work has significantly advanced minimally invasive surgical approaches for gynecologic cancers. Her primary research focuses on robotic and laparoscopic staging and treatment for ovarian and cervical malignancies, with a particular emphasis on improving outcomes for patients with advanced disease. In her landmark 2016 case-matched control study (66 citations), Dr. Cicero demonstrated that robotic staging for early ovarian cancer offers comparable oncologic safety to traditional laparoscopy, with potential advantages in operative precision and recovery.
