About

Dr. CC Foo is a pioneering colorectal surgeon whose research centers on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques, particularly robotic-assisted and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) for rectal cancer and complex abdominal conditions. His most impactful work includes landmark comparative studies demonstrating the oncologic safety and short-term outcomes of robotic versus laparoscopic resection for mid- and distal rectal cancer (84 citations), as well as critical investigations into the learning curve for novice rectal surgeons adopting robotic-assisted low rectal resection (83 citations). Dr. Foo has also made significant contributions to understanding surgical challenges in rare anatomical variations, such as his case report on robotic anterior resection in situs inversus patients, and has explored innovative approaches to overcome workspace constraints in robotic-assisted NOTES. His recent work includes feasibility studies on single-use balloon-assisted robotic colonoscopes and comparative analyses of functional outcomes after robotic versus transanal total mesorectal excision. With a growing body of work that bridges surgical innovation, patient safety, and technical education, Dr. Foo’s research continues to shape the future of colorectal surgery and robotic surgical training.
