About

Biancamaria Del Prete is a pioneering gynecologic surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for the treatment of gynecologic cancers, particularly endometrial cancer. Her major contributions center on the implementation and evaluation of next-generation robotic surgical systems for complex oncologic procedures. Most notably, her landmark 2024 case series documented the first-ever use of the Versius® modular multi-arm surgical robot (Cambridge Medical Robots) for robotic-assisted surgical staging with sentinel node biopsy in patients with apparently early-stage endometrial cancer. This work demonstrated the feasibility and safety of this innovative platform, which offers enhanced modularity and ergonomic advantages over traditional robotic systems. Her research has significant implications for expanding access to precision robotic surgery and improving patient outcomes. While her work is early in its citation trajectory, her pioneering technical descriptions and clinical outcomes are already informing surgical practice and device adoption. Del Prete’s contributions represent a critical step forward in the evolution of robotic gynecologic oncology, bridging the gap between emerging surgical technology and evidence-based clinical application.
