Bartley G. Cilento is a pioneering pediatric urologist whose research has centered on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for complex urological conditions in children. His major contributions lie in demonstrating the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic and robotic-assisted approaches for retrovesical structures—areas traditionally difficult to access with open surgery. His most cited work, "Minimally invasive surgical approaches to retrovesical structures" (2007, 19 citations), provides a foundational framework for using laparoscopy to directly access these challenging anatomical regions, reducing surgical trauma and improving recovery. Cilento has also been at the forefront of perioperative pain management innovation.
