Andrzej Biederman is a pioneering Polish cardiac surgeon whose work centers on minimally invasive and robotic-assisted cardiovascular procedures. His major contribution lies in advancing the application of the da Vinci surgical system for complex heart valve repairs, particularly mitral valve reconstruction. Biederman’s landmark study, "Three-dimensional transoesophageal echocardiographic imaging for support of minimally invasive robotic mitral valve repair using the da Vinci system – first experience in Poland" (2019), documents the first successful integration of real-time 3D transesophageal echocardiography with robotic surgery in the country.
