Alexander Kaizer is a clinical researcher focused on perioperative medicine and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), with particular expertise in gynecologic and urologic oncology. His most impactful work, a prospective randomized study published in 2019 (29 citations), investigated ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks with liposomal bupivacaine for patients undergoing robotic-assisted and laparoscopic hysterectomy. This study demonstrated that TAP blocks significantly reduced postoperative opioid consumption compared to standard port-site infiltration, offering a meaningful advancement in multimodal pain management. Kaizer has also made notable contributions to ERAS protocols in radical cystectomy for bladder cancer.
