About
Akila Siriweera is a researcher at the forefront of decentralized systems, cloud robotics, and the Internet of Everything (IoE) for smart cities. His work tackles the immense computational and data challenges posed by heterogeneous robotics and IoT ecosystems. In his highly cited 2021 survey, Siriweera proposed a model-driven reference architecture for a decentralized, multi-cloud heterogeneous-robotics platform, addressing the Big Data and processing bottlenecks inherent in modern robotics. With 23 citations, this work has become a foundational reference for integrating cloud computing with robotics. He further advanced the field by introducing the concept of "Internet of Cross-Chains," a cross-chain as a service platform designed to manage the diverse value chains within smart city IoE. This 2021 paper, garnering 14 citations, provides a critical framework for interoperability and data management in complex, multi-stakeholder urban environments. Siriweera’s contributions are pivotal for enabling scalable, efficient, and interconnected systems that underpin the next generation of smart city infrastructure and consumer robotics.
