About
Aayush Jain is a researcher at the forefront of human-robot collaboration, with a focus on making industrial robotics more accessible, safe, and efficient. His work centers on programming by demonstration (PbD) and collaborative robotics, aiming to empower non-expert users to seamlessly transfer skills to robots. Jain’s major contributions include quantifying the critical trade-off between safety and productivity in human-robot teams, demonstrating how collaborative robots can improve factory ergonomics without sacrificing flexibility. He also developed CoBT, a novel system for collaborative programming of behaviour trees from a single demonstration, enabling rapid robot adaptation for small and medium-sized enterprises facing dynamic manufacturing demands. With over 8 citations across his key publications, Jain’s research is gaining traction for its practical, user-centered approach. His 2022 study on safety-productivity relationships and his 2023 user study proposal on human factors in PbD highlight his commitment to understanding the human element in automation. Jain’s work is paving the way for a future where robots are intuitive partners, not just tools, in the workplace.
