Conceptual Framework of Digital Transformation in Higher Education an Emerging Trend

摘要
Higher education institutions contributed greatly toward socioeconomic development of every country through providing high quality education in the era of digitalization under Industry 4.0. The 4th Industrial Revolution is a fusion of advances in artificial intelligence, internet of things, big data, robotics, etc., and in this era of 4IR, the higher education system needs transformation in its environment, the roles of teachers and learners, and teaching methods according to the technological developments of Industry 4.0. The traditional system of education has greatly contributed to the industrial revolution and technological advancements. Today higher education all over the world faces formidable challenges in preparing the human resources for Industry 4.0. There is a need to renovate training programs and renew methods, apply technology to the teaching process, and renew the models of linkage between higher education and industry. The present study aims to identify needs and understand conceptual frameworks of digital transformation and to determine opportunities and challenges in the era of 4IR for adopting digital tools in higher education. The study is based on secondary information collected through various journals, books, and articles to synthesize 4IR and higher education. The findings shows that the 4IR has actively contributed to educate and train people to accept future challenges of Industry 4.0 and government to frame special policies and provide key planning for the development of higher education in the era of Industry 4.0.
