View Video Presentation: https://doi.org/10.2514/6.2022-2195.vid In this work, a constitutive model derived from Eulerian-Lagrangian (EL) simulations is implemented into the Eulerian-Eulerian (EE) Two-Fluid Method (TFM) code Loci/GGFS. The models derived from EL bridge a critical gap in experimental data that would otherwise be used to validate models used in EE methods, especially for the extreme environments that are present in extraterrestrial landings of spacecraft. Accurate models are critical for risk assessment for these missions, where retropropuslive landings have become the norm and cratering and regolith liberation are the primary uncertainties encountered during these maneuvers for human and robotic exploration activities. Transport of pseudo-turbulent kinetic energy (PTKE), which arises from shock-particle interactions, can contribute a significant portion of the resolved energy in coarse-grained simulations. The PTKE transport model, implemented in the EE solver Loci/GGFS, is validated against EL data and used to parameterize plume-surface interaction (PSI) induced-flows for future improvements to the PTKE transport model.
